Initiatives
At Youth for Narrative Justice, we believe that changing the stories people tell can change the world they create. Our members take action by organizing community initiatives, leading awareness campaigns, participating in advocacy efforts, creating impactful media, and collaborating with local organizations to inspire meaningful change.
“Tell Your Story” Campaign
The “Tell Your Story” campaign is dedicated to empowering young people to share their lived experiences through storytelling. In partnership with Rotary International, the campaign expanded to rural schools in El Salvador, where students received educational guides (available in English and Spanish) and participated in activities designed to help them reflect on and communicate their personal narratives.
Empowerment Day
Youth for Narrative Justice collaborated with author and educator Chelsey Goodan to organize Empowerment Day, a leadership event supported through brand partnerships with Hello Sunshine and Invisalign. The event brought together 75 girls for interactive workshops focused on confidence, media literacy, body image, self-expression, and personal growth. The leadership team created a space where participants could reflect on their growth, challenge societal expectations, and develop a stronger sense of agency.
Write Your World Workshop
The Write Your World Workshop is an in-person summer program for elementary and middle schoolers. Participants learned the fundamentals of digital storytelling, developed media literacy skills to critically engage with the content they consume, and created original written pieces.
Thank you to The Contribution Project for providing us with a $400 grant, which funded workshop materials and expanded access for local youth!
Speaking Engagements
Youth for Narrative Justice advances narrative justice by fostering meaningful dialouge about equity, inclusion, and authentic storytelling. We are honored to contribute to conferences, community events, and policy discussions that inspire collaboration and drive systemic change. Recent engagements include presenting at the 2025 California Convening of Commissions and Anniversary Celebration, co-hosted by the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls and the Los Angeles County Commission for Women.
Video Series
The Narrative Justice Video Series is a youth-led media project exploring the role of storytelling in shaping perceptions, challenging stereotypes, and amplifying underrepresented voices. Through a collection of interviews and educational video explanations, we examined how narratives influence communities, identity, and social change while encouraging audiences to think critically about the type of material they consume and share.
